According to the Chicago Tribune ,“ While other artists may script and create basic music videos, McKinney’s creativity translates to the screen.” DaWeirdo has been making major strides in music all year long, his most recent work “Broke and Ugly” is DaWeirdo’s strongest work according to the Tribune. Yet his newly released EP “Lillie” on September 11th (her birthday) speaks to the soul and the foundation of family in the hood.
Named after his grandmother “Lillie” who recently passed away, the project features songs that pay homage to his life including Dear Mama, Drinking and Don’t Die Broke. His relationship with his grandmother was the main motivation in creating the EP. From his most recent visuals “Naughty Bear” and “P.A.M. “ DaWeirdo visual work has reached a new height and set a standard in Chicago hip hop.
