It's been a long time since Derez De'Shon broke out in 2017 with his song "Hardaway," but his work remains compelling. His new album I'm Not Ok But... continues his forays into self-described "pain music," reflecting on hardship and determination on his way to hip-hop's pantheon of stars. The Atlanta rapper enlisted various guests for the 14-track project, including Young Blifford, Morray, T-Rell, Sy Ari Da Kid, Raysean, BHM Pezzy, and Luh Dj. Much of the production employs soft keys and ghostly chords to paint Derez's pictures of industry struggle and combating opposition.
